Ubiquiti Networks Wins Product of the Year for airFiber Platform
Ubiquiti Networks have announced that its revolutionary hi-gain point to point outdoor wireless backhaul radio platform, the airFiber, has been named 2012’s Product of the Year by the Wireless Internet Service Provider Association (WISPA).
Since its introduction in March 2012, thousands of airFiber units have been deployed, and the platform has quickly established a reputation as the most robust solution for high-performance backhaul needs. The airFiber is part of Ubiquiti’s Point-to-Point range and provides Fiber-like speeds with true Gigabit+ and FDD over the same spectrum, and has changed the industry’s perception of what is possible with 24GHz unlicensed link range, enabling gains like multi-kilometer links through heavy rainfall conditions.
The Ubiquiti airFiber has a wide footprint in major metropolitan areas like New York and San Francisco and remote regions all over the world.
Ubiquiti as a company was built by great engineers who focus on building disruptive technology. With airFiber, we have designed a revolutionary radio system technology from the ground up which we believe has disrupted the price/performance and range expectations of wireless backhaul in the less-crowded 24GHz worldwide unlicensed band,” said Robert J. Pera, CEO at Ubiquiti Networks. “Our emerging market operators are now able to cost-effectively improve their overall network speed, capacity, and latency to new carrier performance levels.”
