Ubiquiti announce MPLS update now available for EdgeRouter and EdgePoint products

MPLS Update Now Available for EdgeRouter & EdgePoint

Ubiquiti have announced that MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) is now available with the software release (v1.8.0) for the EdgeRouter and EdgePoint Router series.

MPLS increases network efficiency, enhances scalability, and reduces costs because it uses labels, instead of IP addresses in a routing table, for faster packet forwarding in an MPLS network. MPLS also allows deployment of end-to-end, layer-2 services, including Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS), to customers.

The new Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) feature helps to meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) guarantees. Compared to OSPF convergence times, BFD allows quicker detection of connectivity failure and recovery using alternative routes.

Ubiquiti Networks EdgePoint and EdgeRouter devices provide a breakthrough combination of value and performance.
