LANCOM professional VPN client available now for Apple’s new operating system (Lion)
LANCOM Systems has released an update for its professional VPN client for MacBook, MacPro & Co. The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Mac supports the operating systems Mac OS X Leopard (10.5, Intel only), Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) and the new Mac OS X Lion (10.7) to provide full remote access to corporate networks over any Internet connection by means of highly secure IPsec VPN. The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Mac belongs to the Apple-compatible family of solutions from LANCOM: VPN routers, VPN gateways and AirPort-compatible access points, some of which are based on 802.11n. The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client operates anywhere and connects with all IPsec-compliant routers or gateways.
Configuration and operation of the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Mac is easy: VPN profiles can be imported from and or/exchanged with the VPN Client version for Windows, or with LANCOM’S 1-Click Wizard. Other features include Friendly Net Detection and an intelligent tunneling technology: This automatically switches to an alternative connection protocol if a connection cannot be set up over standard IPsec. The user thus has the possibility of connecting to the central network via a VPN even when Internet access is restricted, for example when hotspots are configured with prohibitive security settings, or in UMTS networks. Communications function over ISDN, modem, (wireless) LAN, UMTS or iPhone tethering (with USB or Bluetooth).
The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Mac offers high-end security features for professional VPN connectivity in large and heterogeneous networks at an attractive price: A port-based stateful-inspection firewall with its own firewall rules for known and unknown networks, strong authentication using X.509 certificates, and a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography module.
The LANCOM VPN Client for Mac in English and German is available now from specialist resellers for EUR 106,00 plus VAT. A free 30-day trial version is available for download from the LANCOM web site. Apple, Mac, Mac OS, Macintosh, MacBook, iBook, MacPro, iPhone, AirPort, Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion are registered trademarks of Apple Inc.
