Funkwerk goes IPv6

Funkwerk

For efficient enterprise IPv6 deployment, Funkwerk Enterprise Communications (FEC) has rolled out the IPv6 Customer Preview Release for its bintec RS and bintec R series gateways. By initiating the IPv6 Customer Preview phase, FEC is providing active support to partners and clients on their path from IPv4 to IPv6, enabling a seamless transition.

Andreas Roeck, product manager at FEC, explains. “For IPv6 development, we focus on transparent and secure implementations and pay close attention — in addition to purely technical requirements — to the expectations of our clients.”

Seamless migration, one step at a time

FEC solutions can be seamlessly migrated to the Internet of the future — even if a company’s Internet service provider still does not support IPv6. The IP packets are simply transmitted using IPv4 addresses thanks to the IPv6 tunnel broker. FEC’s IPv6 implementation offers customers the opportunity to deploy IPv6 early to gather experience with IPv6 while running it parallel to IPv4.

To update the new infrastructure in phases, FEC is providing several coordinated scenarios that form a simple and cost-efficient migration strategy. Network components can be tested in advance and the network migrated with zero downtime. Interested parties can register on the FEC website to become a preview tester for the IPv6 releases of the bintec RS and bintec Rxxx2 series gateways. Additional product groups will be modified by the end of the year.
