A Quick Look and Review of the Ubiquiti UniFi Video Camera Range

Ubiquiti Networks have released a series of unified IP video cameras. The three models, the UniFi Video Camera, UniFi Video Camera Dome and UniFi Video Camera Pro each offer specific benefits and features to a range of different applications. The Models

Ubiquiti UniFi Video Camera (UVC)

The UniFi Video Camera has infrared LEDs with an automatic IR cut filter. Perfect for both indoor and outdoor use at both day and night, the UVC has a built in microphone and 720p recording capability at 30FPS.  The camera can be mounted on a ceiling, wall or pole. The UVC is available as both a single unit and a 3-pack.


Ubiquiti UniFi Video Camera Dome (UVC-Dome)

The UniFi Video Camera Dome is ceiling mountable and is designed for indoor use at both day and night. It has a built in microphone and can record at 720p at 30FPS. The UVC-Dome also has infrared LEDs with an automatic IR cut filter. The UVC-Dome is available as both a single unit and a 3-pack.


Ubiquiti UniFi Video Camera Pro (UVC-Pro)

The UniFi Video Camera Pro has full high definition 1080p recording through a 1/3″ Wide Dynamic Range sensor. With 3x optical zoom and resilient casing, the UVC-Pro is completely weatherproof. The Pro has infrared LEDs , a built in microphone, and can be mounted on a wall, pole or ceiling.


Ubiquiti NVR

The Ubiquiti NVR can be used in conjunction with the UniFi Video Cameras. With a 500GB hard drive, the NVR can store up to 1200 hours of 480p resolution footage or 400 hours at 720p.


The Software

The UniFi Video Software is pre-installed on the Ubiquiti NVR and can support deployment of up to 50 cameras. The software is accessible from a web browser and is packed with features that include customizable event recording, advanced analytics, multiple views and statistical reporting.

The UniFi Video software has mobile support and is plug and play.

    To clarify, the UVC Pro does not have a built-in microphone. To record audio it requires a cable accessory connected to an external microphone.
