The Ubiquiti NanoStation M5, part of  the airMax range, is a low-cost and efficient broadband CPE, building on the success of the last generation NanoStation. The M series is sleek and elegant combined with the power of integrated airMAX MIMO TDMA technology.  Today, we are going to be a taking a closer look at the Ubiquiti NanoStation M5.

NSM5 Box Contents

The NSM5 comes in a tall, white box with typical Ubiquiti style branding. Opening the box reveals the contents;

  • 1x NSM5 unit,
  • 2x Plastic Straps,
  • 1x PoE
  • 1x AC Cable,
  • Product documentation. 

The NSM5 device itself is lightweight and has a very sleek, modern design that is smooth and rounded for good aesthetic appeal.

The NSM5 utilises 2×2 MIMO technology so the new NanoStation links significantly further and faster than ever. The new antenna array features a 16dBi dual-polarity gain at 5GHz and 11dBi dual-polarity gain at 2.4GHz.

A secondary ethernet port is also provided with software enabled POE output for seamless IP Video integration.

As an additional option, remote hardware reset circuitry of the NSM5 allows for the device to be reset remotely from a power supply location. The device comes standard as 24V without remote reset.

This NanoStation can also easily become 802.3af 48V compliant through the use of an Instant 802.3af adapter.
